MONK TO RETIRE FROM TREDEGAR

RICHMOND, Va., July 10, 2003 – Tredegar Corporation (NYSE:TG) announced that executive vice president and chief operating officer Douglas R. Monk will retire during the first quarter of 2004. Norman A. Scher, the company's president and chief executive officer, will assume Mr. Monk's responsibilities.

Scher said: "Doug has made many invaluable contributions to Tredegar throughout his career, and we'll miss his industry knowledge and experience. We sincerely appreciate his efforts to prepare our manufacturing operations to meet the challenges ahead."

Before assuming his current position in 1998, Mr. Monk was corporate vice president and president of the William L. Bonnell Company, Tredegar's aluminum extrusions subsidiary. In 1999 and 2000, he also served as president of the company's films subsidiary, Tredegar Film Products. Mr. Monk joined Bonnell in 1972 as an industrial engineer and held positions of increasing responsibility before becoming vice president of operations and finance in 1986. He was named president of Bonnell in 1992.

Mr. Monk received a B.S. degree in industrial engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. degree from Georgia State University.
