RICHMOND, Va., Jan. 17, 2003– W. Hildebrandt Surgner, Jr., has joined Tredegar Corporation (NYSE:TG) as vice president and general counsel.

Prior to joining Tredegar, he was senior counsel to Philip Morris USA, a subsidiary of Philip Morris Companies Inc. Previously he served as an associate at the law firm of Hunton and Williams.

Mr. Surgner received a B.A. degree from Washington and Lee University in 1987 and a law degree from the Washington and Lee School of Law in 1994.

Based in Richmond, Va., Tredegar Corporation is a manufacturer of plastic films and aluminum extrusions.
